Will We Ever See the Remaining Porsche Video Footage Shot During the Final Stage of the Spirited Escape?

2013 Porsche BoxsterBack at the beginning of the summer we spent two days in Birmingham at Barber Motorsport Park with Hurley Haywood and Dhani Jones during the final leg of the Spirited Escape road trip with the new Boxster. Last week, Porsche and Men's Journal published the final video in their series from that time in Birmingham (that's it below). If you can't see the videos in this post, simply visit Where is Porsche's Video Footage Shot During the Final Stage of the Spirited Escape? to view it directly on PorschePurist.

What's interesting, is that a lot more than what we see in this video took place during filming. More specifically, it seemed like we were there in a way to report on what was happening behind the scenes during the filming of a new Boxster commercial.

The video above is the only commercial we've seen so far for the new Boxster (other than the teaser we showed you last month) and it uses very little, if any, of the footage filmed at Barber. The stuff from Men's Journal and the Spirited Escape series is a nice marketing piece, but there was some serious Porsche hardware assembled at the track during our visit. Porsches we experienced, and watched getting filmed on the track, (including formation shots and track driving) included: a Porsche 904, 2 Porsche 550 Spyders and 1 Porsche 550 Coupe, a Porsche 910, a Porsche 914/6, a Porsche 962, a Porsche Carrera GT, a Porsche RS60 and RSK and to top it off, a Porsche GT-1 (G99).

So I ask you, where is all that footage?

We've reached out to Porsche a few times to see what their plans are, if any, but no word yet. However, given Porsche's penchant for social media and YouTube, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more videos surfacing sometime in the near future.
