Having driven and reviewed almost the entire line-up of Porsche Panameras (Porsche Panamera Turbo Review, Porsche Panamera V6 Review, Porsche Panamera 4S Review) and one of Porsche's other venerable Turbo S editions (Review of the 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S) it is with great excitement that we read today's release about the introduction of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S.

Of course, Porsche provided the performance figures, which is probably their way of saying it’ll give you acceleration in the low 3s and a top speed of close to 200 mph.

Yup. they almost always understate performance numbers. Can’t wait to see what it can really do!!

For the sake of silliness (and because buying a Porsches are judged by their specs), GM reports that a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 gets a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 205, but it does have about 80-90 more horses, 500-600 pounds less – and two fewer seats (and no, I do not consider the 911 a four-seater). The Mercedes SLS AMG claims numbers of 3.7 and 197 (although top speed is electronically limited).

With those kinds of peers, you’re in for quite a treat.

Why is it that such a well engineered car couldn’t be clothed more attractively ?
Just take a look at the Aston Martin Rapide for cues on what a 4-door supercar should look like; I drove a Panamera the other day in Orlando and sat at Starbucks looking at it over coffee…..for the life of me I couldn’t find any attractive angles on this big black beast. As for the interior it’s too fussy and lacks charisma
Am I the only one who sees this, or is it that buyers overlook it just because it is the only such offering with a PORSCHE badge
My guess is that the same people who comment favorably on Lexus styling will probably see the Panamera as automotive art
