How Much Would You Pay for a Porsche Owned by David Beckham?

January 6, 2011 by Pepper Girl 15 Comments

UPDATE: Bidding ended with a high bidder of $217,100. That's about $130k more than value for a non David Beckham owned Porsche. Read the comments below the story for more info.

Beckham's 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible is for sale on eBay via Chequered Flag International. When we called the dealer to ask a few questions about the car we were immediately transferred to the Chequered Flag's owner, Neil Jaffe. Asking Neil what he thought about all the press Beckham's Porsche is generating he responded, "it's like having Elvis' car for sale". Based on the current bid price (north of $132,000 as we write this) and what we've seen for coverage, he just may be right.

David Beckham's Flat Black Porsche for Sale

A number of web-sites state that "David Beckham is Selling his Porsche on eBay". That's not quite the truth. According to Jaffe, his dealership bought the customized Porsche from Beckham last month and is now offering it for sale on ebay. Inquiring about proving provenance, Jaffe sent us a copy of the title which you can see below.

Title to David Beckham Porsche for Sale on Ebay

When we asked Neil how high he thought the price might go (the reserve has already been met) he mentioned that he was offered $175,000 to end the auction early and didn't accept it. While we know Beckham is popular, and his Porsche 993 did well when that was sold on eBay, we think he should have taken the offer and cashed the check quickly!! Hopefully he proves us wrong.

To answer the question, I’d pay the market value of a similarly priced 993. Why would anyone care iif a celebriy owned the car or not?

I think this is clearly worth much much more than market value of a normal stock 911 and undoubtedly will sell for 200k+
Not many people can sell a 3 year old car for more than a current model. Truly amazing the power of fame.

I have a certified Ruf Turbo and even with the Ruf name attached to the car, unless it was actually owned and driven by Alois himself, the value will only reach so high. Strangely, remember when James Bond (Sean Connery) drove the Goldfinger/Thunderball car that sold recently? A world record for a 1964 Aston Martin at $4.6 million. Not really the true value of course. Just what a very few will pay to have that kind of bragging rights. I believe that is all that is really happening here. PRIDE is costly to maintain.

Is it free? Seriously, looks like a drug dealer’s car. Ugliest Porsche I’ve ever seen. What was Becks thinking? More importantly, what pray tell was Porsche thinking? I’ll keep my highly modded 996TT, thank you very much. And IF I have a stupid moment and decide to unload it someday in the next century, I’ll get a 993TT. Enough already with the electronic nannies and idiot-proof techno crap on new cars. I want to drive my car, not have it drive me. The only new Porsche 911 worth owning is the GT2RS with tried and true 3.6L and 6 speed. Only 500 made and just 100 or so to be shipped to the U.S.. Doesn’t matter now though, because they’re sold out. My day will come.

If god forbid Beck’s was to die this car will be worth more like $500,000. Hmmm that has me thinking…..

The answer everyone has been waiting for…..

A David Beckham Celebrity owned 2008 Porsche is worth $217,100 US

Joe Blow 2008 Porsche is worth less than half at just $85,000 US

No one in the States truly gets Beckham, like the European and other soccer playing countries, he’s a God there; think Michael Jackson’s glove at $300k.

Having said that the auction got hijacked by a real English wanker, his only prior claim to fame was that in 2008 he robbed a naked Chinese hooker at knife-point only to get caught immediately and suffer a heart attack in the cop car, a looser with delusions of grandeur who pipped 2 real bidders by $100 and $200 respectively and effectively destroyed the auction.

Whats next? I’ll keep you posted but please try not to be so mean, it’s a great looking car…

Neil am sorry to hear your auction was not straight forward. Surely you can offer the serious bidders the option to buy at their highest bid?
