The 2009 54th Annual PCA Parade, being held June 29th to July 4th in Keystone Colorado, is fast approaching. This year, the Parade's Time Speed Distance (TSD) rally on July 1st is sponsored by Mobil 1. As most of you know, Porsche and Mobil 1 have a long and storied partnership dating back to 1996. 13 years later the relationship is stronger than ever with Mobil 1 used as the exclusive factory fill, and recommended service fill, for all Porsche engines and a sponsor to Porsche Motorsport.
To help celebrate this working relationship, and showcase Mobil 1's involvement with the PCA 2009 Porsche Parade and TSD Rally, FlatSixes.com's Valerie Roedenbeck and Christian Maloof are attending the Parade and Rally courtesy of Mobil 1 and will be reporting live here on the blog, Facebook group and Twitter on their experiences and adventures. It should be very interesting to see how a Grand-Am KONI Challenge driver (Christian) does trying to stick to the time/speed rules of the rally (assuming they even let him drive) ๐ We're kicking things off and revving up the excitement by giving away five cases of Mobil 1 oil.
That's right, free Mobil 1!
If you're one of the five lucky winners*, just pick your favorite flavor/viscosity and we'll ship it directly to your door, courtesy of Mobil 1. Here's how you can win:
- Spread the word. We want people to know about Mobil 1's involvement with Porsche and the PCA so help us spread the word by posting a link to this article on another Porsche related web-site, Porsche based forum or other automotive enthusiast site. Once you post the link, let us know by commenting below (be sure to include your email and let us know where you posted the link). We'll randomly pick two winners from this group of entries on the day of the TSD.
- Follow-us on Twitter. Do you Tweet? If so, you can win a case of Mobil 1 oil. How? Simple. Follow PorschePurist on Twitter. We'll keep a list of all those who start following us as of the publication of this post. We'll randomly pick one of the next 100 people who sign up to follow our updates and announce the winner on the day of the TSD. It's that simple.
- Find us at Parade. Valerie and Christian will be participating in the TSD on July 1st and enjoying the other events with everyone else. They will both be wearing FlatSixes.com polo shirts (and also have some goodies to hand out). The first person to find them at Parade, mention this post and ask for a case of Mobil 1 will win. Make sure when you see Valerie or Christian you give them your preferred choice of oil and your address!!!
- Random Reader. If you want a case of oil and feel like telling us why we should send one to you, comment below. The best reason, as determined by our judges (that's me) wins!!!
If you can't make it to the PCA Parade this year, be sure to check out FlatSixes.com as we will be live blogging when we can, tweeting when we can't and giving a daily round-up while we're there.

Looking forward to meeting a lucky Porsche Purist reader at the Porsche Parade!
Good stuff guys !
@Andreas, you’re starting things off. Definitely an advantage to being the first poster! ๐
@DJ, how about a shout-out on Team Speed? Your members deserve a chance too? ๐
@PorscheGirl and they’re looking forward to meeting you too….
I could use the case of Mobil 1 because I was running on the redline most of the time I was out on the track for the 944Fest! She needs a brake fluid flush, too — it’s hard to go fast in a 944 NA when you have the transmission for a 944 S2 and your engine’s running some thick ‘n rich 15w 50 oil (Mobil 1!) — but I did it anyway!
If that isn’t enough, I am less than 2,000 miles away from the much-anticipated 100,000 mile mark. What better way to usher in another 100,000 miles of (mostly) problem free performance than with a case of oil?
๐
hey john… well, i just passed this post on to my webmaster at Metro NY PCA.. not sure when it will get posted.. i also just sent it to 6 Metro members who will be going to Parada with a special note to find Christian and Valerie.. good luck to them!!
but do i qualify??
@Jackie,
That’s awesome. In my opinion, if you don’t win, Mobil 1 should give you a case anyway considering that the Metro NY PCA region is one of the largest in the country I believe!! ๐ Let me know when it posts so I can add it to the list.
It looks like it’s going to be a great race to see who finds Christian and Valerie first. I just got an email from four 993 owners making the drive to the Parade from Texas. They are going to be looking for them too. ๐
You, most definitely qualify. Don’t forget you can get another entry by commenting and explaining why you deserve a case. Remember, I’m judging that one!!
@Andrew, given your propensity toward verbosity and wit, I expected something much more “pithy” from you…
@DJ, how about a link back on http://www.TeamSpeed.com
My Cayman S is my very first Porsche, and I certainly tend to “spoil” this car (with deluxe car detail jobs; etc; etc..). A case of Mobil 1 will be quite a nice treat for my silver bullet.
John, I didn’t want to offend anyone this time, in case it hurt my chances!
ok, can’t wait for Pete, posted it myself on the PlanetPorsche.net website..
http://www.planetporsche.net/pca-members/33718-porsche-parada-2009-colorado-mobil-1-a.html#post371525
but you have to be a member to view it..
so why should i win it?… cause i love my porsche.. and i never win anything!!!
i’m usually just the cheerleader for everyone else.. kind of a ‘porsche-yenta’..
photog’s need credentials to a race, no worry i’ll get them for you… or i’ll hve my other region editor friend apply for you..
need to rent a p-car for a race, no worry, i got a friend…
want to get the word out on someting, no worry, i’ll put it in the Post, or the Cayman site..
dealer X screw you on service, no worry, go see my guy, he’ll take care of you…
i dont know, i like to see people get what they want.. feels good to do for others.
that’s it.
so if you want to fly me a case of oil… i’ll take it…
or you can fly me press credentials when i’m overextended!!!
either way, you’re the best!
and it’s OK to drive your P-car in the rain.. just not on slicks!
: )
this is great, I’m in.
I have Mobil 1 now in my car (really!) and would love to have a supply waiting for my next change!. Good thing about Mobil 1 is not having to do 3k oil change intervals! Good for the engine, Good for the environment. my initial motivation to use Mobil 1 was that and its great for cold weather starts.
Mobil “1” Oil … impacts a greater degree of Viscosity when the engine’s combustion implodes during ignition creating a higher lubricating viscosity for your engines protection. 1000 -2000 -3000 RPM Revolutions Per Minute Think about it when you are purchasing a Super Oil like Mobil “1” and 300,000 miles later
I would love to win this case of Mobil 1 Oil and would commit to using it when I get my Porsche, hopefully this year.
I would really like this oil to help keep my 1987 951 on the road. This car is my pride and joy. I am currently pursuing a career in mobile electronics, and I have already achieved my MECP certification and two SkillsUSA State competition titles, as well as a Third Place Finish at the 2008 SkillsUSA National Convention in Kansas City. With me going to school full time and working at the family farm, I am afraid when the next oil change comes up I may be forced to put some cheap-o-deluxe Walmart oil in the car. You don’t want that do you? Of course you don’t, so if you would make a young man who has a love for Porsche’s and all things mechanical very happy, you just might want to send me that oil. Not to mention keeping another Porsche on the road…
Oh, there is no question that I deserve a case of Mobile One. At least one, maybe ten. I’ve been a literary cheerleader for Porsche with my silly Dear Hanzy Mein Hanzy stories for years, and at one point nearly 40 regions of PCA were publishing them on a regular basis. I did get a hat out of it at one time, but that’s it. So bring on the case. Cheers!
… So who wins?
@Andrew, working it out now. We ended up having two winners at the Parade itself!!! Should have it posted shortly…. check back often. ๐
Hi, Everyone.
We have our winners. I’ll do a formal post later, but here’s the short version
1. From the PCA Parade: Two winners: Sean Cridland and Tim Drummer
2. For Spreading the Word: Only one entry, so one winner: Jackie Buys
3. Random Reader: Because we only had one winner above, I have an extra case to give out: So, our winners are, based on their entry comments: Doug and his 951 and and J Killion for his Hanzy stories (sorry Andrew, If I had given it to you everyone would know the fix is in) ๐
4: Twitter follower: To be announced on Twitter!!!
I’ll get in touch with each of you to get your flavor/viscosity of choice along with contact/shipping details and get the oil sent out ASAP.
Congrats to everyone and thanks for playing along.
No hard feelings, John — congrats to everyone who won! Nice going to the folks in CO tracking down the PorschePurist team!
I tried and tried to reach Doug from his post above to let him know he won, but his email keeps bouncing and he must not have come back to the site. As a result I needed to pick another winner.
As I went to pick, I found another entry for Spreading the Word (earlier I thought there was only one). Turns out that Kevin, of Hunt for 901 fame put a link up on his site early in the game and deserved to win from the get go. So, Kevin, if you’re reading. Let me know your favorite flavor and email me your shipping address for your case of Mobil1.
For all you other lucky winners, your cases are shipping early next week!! Do me a favor. Let me know when you get them and send me a picture with you and your case of Mobil 1!!!
My 1996 993 Carrera is used for PCA track events here in the southeast and has been on a strict oil change schedule using 15-50 Mobil 1. Over the last year fewer and fewer local autoparts retailers have discontinued stocking the 15-50 Mobil 1 requiring my extended search efforts to move north to the Charlotte metro area. I am down to my last case and need another case in order to have enough to meet the ten quart quantity needed for the scheduled filter(s) and oil change on July 1. Thanks for your FLATSIXES.com information management and possible 15-50 Mobil 1 rescue.
