Porsche’s 2025 Taycan Turbo GT has established a new production-EV record at Georgia’s 2.54-mile Road Atlanta circuit, lapping in 1 minute 27.15 seconds. The time was set on May 28 by factory driver and Porsche Cars North America ambassador Patrick Long, who piloted a stock car fitted with the Weissach Package and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS NF0 tires developed specifically for the model.
Long reported that the electric sedan’s braking power and steering feel were immediately confidence-inspiring, praising the Active Ride suspension for countering pitch, roll, and squat through Road Atlanta’s high-load corners. Porsche’s Attack Mode, which offers brief boosts in output, delivered what Long described as “a smooth but intense burst of usable power.”

Conditions on record day were mixed: morning rain left the track partly damp, with mid-70-degree temperatures, light wind, and intermittent cloud cover during the run. After experimenting with stability-control settings, Long completed two record-breaking laps, with the second proving quickest. The Taycan began the session at 97 percent charge, battery temperature reduced to 68 degrees Fahrenheit via Track Endurance Mode, and tires set to 37 psi front and rear.
The new mark eclipses the 1:33.88 time recorded by a Taycan Turbo S in late 2020, highlighting gains in battery technology, motor output, suspension tuning, and tire performance achieved mid-generation. Porsche has not indicated whether additional North American circuits will host official record attempts for the upgraded four-door EV.
