Watch Chris Harris Destroy Yet Another Set of Tires. This Time on the 991.2 GT3

At this point, the newest version of Porsche’s venerable 911 GT3, the 991.2 version, has been reviewed ad nauseam by all the usual suspects. We know it has 493 HP making it capable of a top speed of 198 MPH and only takes 7.3 seconds to reach 100 MPH from a standstill. Despite all that, what we haven’t seen is Chris Harris sliding one around his track of choice as he talks through his review as if he were out for a Sunday drive.

In case you need a refresher, here are some of the bigger differences between the first generation 991 GT3 and the 991.2 version:

  • Engine is now 4.0 liters vs. 3.8
  • Engine has a newly designed crank, oil system and liners. The hydraulic valve lifters have been removed and it produces power all the =way to 8250 RPMs on it’s way to redline of 9,000 RPMS
  • The 4-wheel steering and PDK gearbox are carried over from the previous versino but they’ve been recalibrated and made better. More importantly a manual version will be made available
  • Rear suspension uses a “helper” spring, but all setting are different
  • It uses the rear diffuser from the 911 R and moves the old GT3’s rear wing a litte further back and little higher. These changes combined with a reworked front-end give the same downforce as the 997 gen2 RS
