This Is How The Porsche 991 GT3 Front Axle Lift System Works

Back in March, Elephant Racing posted a short video showing us how the rear-wheel steering works on the new Porsche 911 GT3. The other day, they published this video below showcasing Porsche’s front axle lift system on the 991 GT3. Basically it’s an electro-pneumatic system which raises the body via the PASM dampers on the front axle by 30 mm (1.2 inches). You simply push a button on the center console and you can raise the front end while driving at speeds up to 30mph. That all sounds well and good, but Elephant Racing’s video shows us the capability and functionality of this $3500 option in a very unique way. Watch and see what we mean.

  • in 1983 i built a 1976 camaro with a 450 hp solid lifter 350,lt1 heads boa boa boa.super stiff coils out of a 69 chef wagon w 396 w air and 1 extra leaf,the heaviest i could fit,highway stock gears and a t400 trans w kit .you won't believe this but i ate 911s on the northern state pky. on long island and when i shifted to 3rd left them in an embarrassing dust.the camaro was stiff and held the road as well as the 911s but were high off the ground which never bothered me and didn't lift my car to any dangerous floating or loss of control.it was built like this and built as my 'BQE Racer" it could get airborne and land just touching header flanges,hwy patrol never had a chance as didn't any spoiled brat in his 911 of the era.it was fun,lots of fun.

    • I can imagine in 1983 a 450 hp muscle car would do well against a 911 in a straight line. I would hate to see that same Camaro try to keep up on the twisty bits... :-)
