If you own and drive a Porsche 911 GT3 (991 version), or know someone who does, read this and stop driving your Porsche now! After a rash of engine fires with unknown causes in as many as five 2014 GT3s (only two have been confirmed at this point), Porsche is recommending that all 2014 911 GT3 owners stop driving their vehicles until they can be inspected at a local dealer.
Owners of affected GT3s (785 worldwide) are being notified personally and Porsche is offering to pick up the vehicle to bring it in for inspection. No official word yet on what the potential problem might be. There’s quite a bit of speculation on the forums, but we’ll wait for official confirmation in one form or another. Internal investigations/inspections at Porsche are ongoing and we should know the root cause very soon.
