Spied: Porsche 911 Safari caught playing in the rain

To the uninitiated, a lifted Porsche 911 on anything other than super sticky track tires is a terrible, terrible idea. But for enthusiasts like me, the idea of bombing across the desert or down some forest trail in a sports car with the engine hanging out the back sounds incredible. For those folks, the Porsche 911 Safari is for them.

This isn’t the first time we’ve spy shots of a potential current generation 911 Safari, but here’s a fresh batch frolicking in the rain. The Nürburgring is often used as a testing ground for new Porsche models, even ones that might sometimes not drive on tarmac, because most people will spend most of their time on the tarmac. Commuting to work. Going to Chipotle.

The GT3 RS seats and roll bar are likely mostly there just for testing, but it’s possible a variation of those seats make production, depending on expected customer demand and option packages. It’s currently wearing a Carrera S body, which will likely change somewhat for production, as Porsche likes to hide its future vehicles in normal looking current models.

When we will see this in dealerships? Possibly pretty soon, but more likely as a model with the 992.2 generation car.
