The twelve Porsches offered by Bonhams this year were all road cars, and primarily consist of early air-cooled cars. With no less than four 356s and two 1960s 911s available, Bonhams’ offerings were, on the whole, the earliest of the three auction houses. Bonhams was home to what was perhaps the “bargain” of the weekend.
This 1965 Porsche 356C Coupe sold for just $44,000. Granted it doesn’t have its original motor, in its place is an updated engine from a 912, but overall condition seemed good and the sell price seemed even better.

Like Gooding and Company, one of Bonhams’ no sale Porsches was a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT. This particular car had a pre-auction estimate of $600,000 to $700,000 and didn’t get close. Without having previewed this CGT ourselves, and knowing its exact condition, its hard to say with certitude, but it seems we might be seeing a trend developing on CGT pricing overall.
