D-Zug’s Infamous Project Mjølner 911 Turbo For Sale On Ebay

Mjølner is the mythical hammer carried by the Norse God Thor. It is also an Old Norse word meaning “That which marks and pulverizes to dust”. In more recent years, the Marvel version of the hero Thor has wielded a version of Mjølner that was only able to be lifted by those worthy of wielding its power. To name a car after something so powerful and capable should normally be looked upon skeptically. To name a 1986 Porsche 930 such a name implies that the car is something special, a one-off that only the worthy can handle. In this case, I’m not so sure this Porsche doesn’t deserve the name. What a car it is.

D-Zug is a company that manufactures and sells some interesting bits of 911 kit, usually for upgrading your car to near-insane levels like this one, and usually derived from racing components used by Porsche in-era. Things like 935-style in-car boost knobs, 917 gearshift knobs, carbon fiber recreations of the famous “lollipop racing seat”, and even race-style horizontal cooling fan conversion kits (You don’t even want to know how much those cost). As such, this car has been something of a rolling test bed for new products and a showcase for existing products for quite a while. If you’re familiar with the darker side of the modified Porsche world, you’ve probably seen this car before.

Visually, the car looks like it might kill you just for looking at it wrong. Coated in a thick film of oily black paint, and featuring massively widened fenders, as well as a picnic table on the back disguised as an aero-device, this car looks a bit like something you’d expect to see on the race track, rather than being driven on the street. Indeed, this car does make use of several racing components, and is probably only suited to a very particular type of individual. You might need to be certifiably insane to drive something like this on the street. Luckily, I think I’m borderline, and this car would probably push me over the edge. I want to drive it as much as possible. I want to become one with this Porsche. I want to spend every waking moment in this car. I really like boost, and this car has a lot of it.

The buy it now price is pretty high up there, but you’re getting a lot of really neat parts, and a build that you almost certainly could not reproduce for twice the asking price. That said, buyer beware, this one bites, and you may need to keep it caged when not in use.
