We’ve been compiling the best Porsche models on eBay for almost two years now, and we’ve seen some pretty astonishing cars pop up now and again. In all that time, we’ve published these every other week. Well, enough of you have spoken up that we’re going to try a weekly format, with two of us picking selections, so check back often. This week, we’ve got a bit of a theme working, tell us if you can spot what it is. We have a rare 993 with interesting paint, a rare Cayenne with interesting paint, a rare 991 with interesting paint, and a couple of rare 912s with interesting paint. Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.
1. Paint To Sample Fashion Grey 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet For Sale
It’s no secret that we enjoy top-down driving here at FlatSixes. Besides, it’s the middle of summer, and the perfect time to buy yourself a new cabriolet. This 991 Carrera 4S is almost exactly how we’d spec one ourselves. This car would make an excellent cross-country long-haul road tripping Grand Touring car. The 14-way adjustable sports seats would be easy to find a comfortable setting, and the heated seats and Bose Audio would just make the experience all the better when you’re bombing across a wide open plain in the late evening with the top down enjoying the stars. And that’s to say nothing of the gorgeous Fashion Grey paint. This car only has a couple thousand miles on it, and looks like brand new, so you can essentially pick up a brand new 991 without taking quite as large a hit on depreciation over the course of your ownership. Allow the original purchaser to lose 50 grand on the deal, and you can pick up a top spec Carrera for the price of a brand new base Carrera.

2. Beautiful In Brown 1976 Porsche 912E For Sale
The 912E is largely still the unloved car in Porsche’s mid 1970s lineup, however the car is exceedingly rare and some people are starting to see the error of their ways. With just over 2000 of these built, and one-year-only status, the 912 has gained a cult following. Using the 2.0 liter flat-four engine found in 914s and Volkswagen Buses alike, the 912E wasn’t exactly a speed machine, but it still offered the style of a 911 with superior balance due to a lighter engine out back. Add in the fact that this car is one of only 500 assembled with a sunroof, and I’m sure very few wear original Sepia Brown paint (which I love). How can you go wrong with a Brown Porsche?

3. Iris Blue Metallic 1996 Porsche Carrera 4S For Sale
We have a lot of love for the 993 Generation of the Carrera 4S. This car is extra rare in that it features a Porsche Aerokit II, and gorgeous Iris Blue Metallic paint over grey leather. It’s only traveled a light 38,000 miles, and looks new as can be. The front of the car is protected with a “clear bra”, to protect that beautiful paint. Money well spent, methinks. The car has a clean history, and comes with a stack of service records. At nearly 100 grand, it’s a little rich for our Boxster-owner blood, but what do you think? Could this beauty in blue join your stable?

4. Tangering 1967 Porsche 912 Split-grille Coupe For Sale
A short wheelbase 912 is a treasure. This particular car was ordered in Tangerine which is my single favorite color for a longhood. This car doesn’t appear to be perfect, but it would make a great driver-class car for weekend rides or the occasional commute. If you’re hardcore enough, and handy with carburetors, you might be able to make it a daily ride. There are a few missing pieces, but nothing I’d really get worked up about. I’d love to see this car in person to determine the quality of the sheetmetal, and how the paint looks up close. The sellers are asking what I’d consider the attic (as in, above the ceiling) for this car, but the way prices on 912s have been going lately, they just might get it. Is this a ‘Caveat Emptor’ situation, or a ‘Carpe Diem’? You be the judge.

5. VERY Peridot Green 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS For Sale
The Cayenne GTS is one of my favorite modern Porsches, as it has a gloriously throaty sound mixed with a comfortable driving position and the best suspension tuning in the segment. They sold well enough that I wouldn’t call them rare, but they’re certainly harder to find than an S or a Turbo. This particular iteration features a special order color called Peridot Green, which is among the most garish and polarizing colors Porsche has ever sprayed on one of their cars. Add in the fact that this car has had the wheels custom ordered to match the exterior paint, and you’ve got a recipe for attracting attention. Personally I think the car would look a good bit better with black or silver wheels, I would still love to drive it as is. Turn on the sport exhaust, drive through town blipping the throttle, scare young children and the elderly, repeat.
