When I first saw that a former member of the band KISS had a Porsche for sale I thought for sure it would be something rare. Maybe a pre-A split window 356, a 993 Turbo S. Hell, maybe even a Porsche 959. After all, given Gene Simmons’ ability to market and license anything and everything under God’s green earth, you know these guys have some bucks. So, I was more than a bit surprised to see the car in question.
Turns out that this 1980 924 was given to Eric Carr (may the “Fox” rest in peace), by KISS, as a contract signing bonus upon joining the band in 1980 as a replacement for Peter Criss.
With an asking price of $15,000 the seller recognizes this is significantly more than what would be considered a normal value for a similar 924. However, the KISS fan base is rabid (we know because of all the other crazy Kiss stuff they buy) and we’ve seen other Porsches with celebrity provenance sell well above what normal market conditions should warrant.
This well used loved 924 has slightly more than 120,000 miles on it and comes complete with title chain (and matching NY plates) to show provenance. While it might look like “All Hell’s Breakin’ Loose” (the most obscure reference I could find) with this 924, the seller says it will run if you replace the battery.
Who knows, Eric was supposedly well liked by his fans, maybe someone will step up and add this to their collection of other Kiss memorabilia. For more details, picture or contact information, check out the original listing on KissMuseum.net
