Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 15

For all of the eccentric and eclectic Porsche collectors and enthusiasts out there, we’ve decided that it is about time someone aggregated the best of the best that eBay has to offer in the Porsches-for-sale department. Now we’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for folks to purchase. The list includes a Weissach Edition, a PTS 918 Spyder, a widebody Carrera, a rare 993, and a fully depreciated Cayman (Is it time to buy one?). Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 1980 Porsche 911 SC Weissach Edition For Sale

I’ve only ever seen one Weissach Edition 911 in my entire life, and I was absolutely in love at first sight. The bespoke Weissach metallic paint, the strange mix of colors of the special edition interior (Oh my goodness, that piping!), and a distinctly early-1980’s flavor all added up to a car that I would absolutely love to own. There were only 408 of these beauties built, and it is very difficult to find one in this condition. With only 9500 miles on this car, considering its rarity, I can see why the asking price is so high. If you’re looking for the best Weissach Edition in the world, you may have just found it.

2. 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Paint To Sample For Sale

Porsche has completely sold out of 918 Spyders, so if you want one, your only choice is to purchase a used car at this point. This one is the only one I’ve seen listed used so far, and the owner has only put just over five hundred miles on this beastly hybrid machine. The options list on this car is fantastic, selecting some of the best options possible to make the most beautiful 918 Spyder I’ve ever seen. The seller calls this exterior color “voodoo blue”, and it looks absolutely fantastic in the pictures. Not to mention the optional “Platinum Satin” painted wheels that just look every bit of amazing.

Never mind that a 918 Spyder was just under $900,000 when ordered from Porsche, this guy wants $1.35 million dollars for his, because he got his order in on time. That’s what you get for being a laggard and not ordering your 918 before they sold out. If you want one now, you’ll have to pay a half million dollar premium to get it!

3. 1987 Porsche Carrera 3.2 “Renza Motorsport Widebody” For Sale

I don’t normally care for cars that are updated or backdated to be a different Porsche than they originally were, but for some reason this crazy 964 wannabe 911 Carrrera just plain works. The widebody looks great, and not overdone in any way. The 993 GT2 style rear wing makes everything gel really well together. It’s over the top in the best way possible. I can’t say that I love the 18″ 3 piece wheels, and I would probably have to change them out for a 16 or 17 inch wheel if I were to own this car, but that’s a pretty simple swap. In every other way, it’s perfect and I love it. I want to paint it black, run a straight pipe exhaust, and drive it around small towns scaring little children.

4. 1997 Porsche 911 “993” Carrera 2S For Sale

The 993 C2S is an icon these days, and this one looks absolutely perfect. Almost half as many 993 C2S were built as the iconic 993 Turbo, so if you want to add one of these to your collection, you’ll need to search hard. It’s a wide-body rear wheel drive ‘last of the aircooled’ 911s, and it doesn’t get much more ‘911’ than this. This is the best of the last of the best, if that makes any sense. These have been skyrocketing in value lately (though still lag behind the C4S and Turbo in value), so grab one while they are still within the range of somewhat affordable. These will only continue to follow the rest of the 993 lineup as they increase.

5. 2006 Cayman S 6-Speed For Sale

The first year Cayman S cars just keep dropping in value, and this is the best deal I’ve seen yet. Only 21K for one of the best handling cars Porsche has ever built? What could possibly go wrong?

It’s an M96 powered car, so you might run into some leaky rear main seals, and it’d be a good idea to install a new ceramic intermediate shaft bearing when the clutch needs replacing next, but other than that, this car is solid and gorgeous. This is one of the most beautiful Porsches that has been built in recent memory, and I absolutely love this chassis to death. For 21K, there are a lot worse cars you could buy. This one has just over 100,000 miles on it, but it looks like its brand new, and the interior looks like nobody has ever even sat in it. As always, get a 3rd party non-biased pre-purchase inspection, but if everything checks out, this is a bargain of a Porsche. Go buy it today!

  • I really enjoy your weekly eBay selections. They're a great read and your descriptions and comments add a personal touch to sometimes dry eBay descriptions. There's only one other thing that would enhance them, for me, and that is to add the asking price or starting bid so I don't have to leave the page to see it.
    Thanks!

  • Re: the Weissach. To me, the side marker lights mean European and haven't seen any conversation about the effect, if any, on value. I had one of these w/25k on the clock, great car. Sold it in 2007 for $27.5, not sure why!

    • Re; The Weissach.

I also have a Weissach which I purchased new in 1980. I noticed that the eBay Weissach had a 150 MPH speedometer. My Weissach originally came with an 85 MPH speedometer- I insisted on a 150 MPH speedometer, which the dealer provided, but would not install- I installed it myself the day I purchased the car. My car, built for the US market, also does not have side marker lights, If the eBay car was built for the European market, why a speedometer in MPH? Perhaps it was for a non-US market that does/did not use the metric system but required left hand drive. Or, perhaps it is not the original speedometer.
