Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 21

For all of the eccentric and eclectic Porsche collectors and enthusiasts out there, we’ve decided that it is about time someone aggregated the best of the best that eBay has to offer in the Porsches-for-sale department. Now we’ve tracked down six more exciting Porsches for folks to purchase. The list this week includes a gorgeous 944 Turbo, an even more gorgeous 993 Carrera 2S, a driver-class 912, a restoration candidate 914-6, a 911 RSR replica, and what just might be the world’s last new 936 Junior! Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 1973 Porsche Carrera RSR Replica For Sale

All of the bodywork is fiberglass, and looks to be masterfully crafted. The livery is one of my favorites in all of Porsche history, so this had to be added to the listing only on principle. Built on a 1971 911, this racing car features an RS spec 2.7 liter engine fed with big Weber carburetors, a 915 gearbox with limited slip, full bilstein suspension, and adjustable sway bars.

With 11 inch wide slicks at the rear and 9 inch wide slicks at the front, this car probably grabs the pavement and holds on with both hands. I am willing to bet that this thing is both a handful and a riot to drive at speed. Whoever buys it, you’re in for a boatload of track day fun.

2. 1969 Porsche 912 Driver For Sale

I have been trying to convince myself to buy a 912 for the better part of a decade. Unfortunately, in recent years, the prices have skyrocketed following closely behind the early 911 trend. This car is probably the first relatively sanely price example since the boom started. I’ve even heard rumor of some folks paying 6 figures for a twelve.

This isn’t a collector car, as it’s received a color change from sand beige to this dark blue, and the interior is from a 1974 911. That said, everything looks reasonably in good shape, and it appears to be mostly rust-free. If an inspection proves that to be the case, this would be an excellent example of a car that you could drive hard and not feel bad about it. A long-wheelbase 912 is an excellent driving car, and this one is priced decently for what it is.

3. Beautiful 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S AeroKit For Sale

This 993 checks ALL of the boxes. It’s an ultra rare two wheel drive widebody car. It’s got the aerokit. It’s painted in what is arguably the best Porsche color in history. It’s still got relatively low miles (under 80K). And as I commented a few weeks ago, photos of a car that are composed well will definitely help sell a car. This car looks gorgeous.

Being that this car is sitting just a little lower than stock on a set of H&R coils, and that the exhaust is just a little more raucous thanks to a Fabspeed muffler, this just might be the perfect 993. The trifecta of ‘looks great’, ‘sounds great’, and ‘ drives great’ are hard to find, but this might just be it.

4. Newly Rebuilt 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo For Sale

1986 is the least desirable of all 944 Turbos, but that’s like saying cheese pizza is the least desirable of all pizzas. Even the worst pizza is still delicious. 1986 didn’t get the slightly higher power rating of later cars, but it still drives like a beast. The balance is there, the dynamics are there, and the power is still pretty darn good.

To solve some of that, the car currently has a slightly larger K26/8 turbo, an aftermarket boost controller, and an ecu chip tune. It’s also got a short shift kit, and new Koni adjustable shocks/struts to make the sporty feel even sportier.

5. Needs a rebuild 1971 Porsche 914-6 For Sale

The 914 was ahead of its time. The neutral balanced handling that this car offered in 1970 was just insane, and a well prepped one will out-handle a whole lot of brand new cars. It’s a car that inspires confidence, and pushes the driver to demand more from a car. Unfortunately this one looks like it has seen better days. The car is sitting in primer, and many of the pieces have been removed from the car, but come with the purchase. It’s said to just need some panel straightening and a few coats of paint to be “ready”. Though they go on to say that the interior needs a complete going over. On the up side, they say that it has its original engine and transmission, which greatly increases the value.

Only just over 3000 914-6 models were produced, so it’s not likely that you’ll see one up for sale often, and this is a good opportunity to jump in at a discounted price and restore it to perfect. As these continue to rocket up in value, it won’t be long before they’re all in the hundred-thousand dollar range. A good restorer who enjoys the process could easily purchase, restore, and flip this for a tidy profit.

6. 1981 Porsche 936 Junior Go-Kart For Sale

This 936 Junior is stated to be one of the last built, and one of the only in the world with zero miles. This kart is said to have been unearthed in its original crate in a warehouse. If that’s true, this could be a highly collectible item.

We’ve seen two of these sell this year, one at Amelia Island for $14,500, and one in Paris for $23,400, so it’s no surprise that this car has not yet met reserve and has two bids up to $25,100. What will this one go for? What is it worth?
