I own the CARBQ and will be running it after Labor day weekend. Look for it on ebay under Porsche 356 cars then. If you're interested in purchasing this, you can use the contact form on this site and your info will be forwarded to me. This BBQ has been a 10 year work in progress. I have enjoyed the creative avenue it has allowed me to have. My Passion is owning, driving and restoring Porsche's!!
Love the grill and whole idea. Just a pet peeve: In your video you made for Yahoo PostGame, your friend, Damian Pascetti, needs to be taught how to pronounce the name Porsche.
Porsch - EH', Damian, not Porsh!
Nice grill, though.
This should be the image on Webster's Pictorial Dictionary for the phrase "only in America"
This would have made a real hit with the purists at Parade. Perhaps would have even gotten sold.
@Chuck,
I wonder how true "purists" would receive it. On Twitter, a number of folks thought it was pure blasphemy to cut up a 356 this way. However, without knowing the whole story, I think it's a great way for an otherwise rusted/tired 356 to get another life...
@Stefanos,
If that's true, then this 356 (http://porschepurist.com/cars/tuned-porsches/1955-porsche-356-a-silver-bullet-custom-hot-rod/) should get labeled, "only in Australia". Kind of "Mad Max" like.
This is mark the owner of the CarBQ, the front end of this car was smashed off in the early 80's and the floors were rusted out. I saw it at a junk yard on top of a pile of other cars and saved what was left of it from the crusher! I had intensions of saving the car and making a whole car out of it in my life time but I could never find a front half with out destroying a good car for a Donner for my half. It's very hard to find a good front half due them always be wrecked in the front so plenty of good rear ends to choose from, so being a metal fabricator I made it into a BBQ so it would be a one of a kind. To all you Porsche Purist all I can say is the next time I have the BBQ fired up, come on over and have a burger and beer on me.
@Mark,
Well said!! Looking forward to that beer. :-)
May I offer a few words of comfort for the dismayed purists.....
Pull your lederhosen out and enjoy Bratwurst and sauerkraut with a Dortmunder yeah !
But the grilling should be done on the twin grill(s)!!
I think it is a great use of a car that didn't have a chance to ever get a true restoration.
