Porsche is building its own Bring A Trailer competitor

You’ve probably seen the headlines by now, “Bring A Trailer Sold $829 Million In Cars In 2021” or “Hearst Autos Acquires Bring A Trailer” and the implication is quite clear; the collector car market is hot right now. It’s so hot, in fact, that even a major international sports car company like Porsche wants in. That’s why Porsche Digital kicked off a new online auction site called Marqued.

The interesting thing about this site is that is isn’t just vintage Porsches for sale, though there are some. This is an all-marques-welcome auction site, and as of this moment the site features a BMW, two Fiats, a Toyota, and two lovely Porsches. It’s a curated selection of cars in small batches, though if the success of sites like Bring A Trailer and Cars and Bids is any indication, it won’t stay small for long.

“Marqued is a ‘brand agnostic’ platform for car enthusiasts”, says Max Esslinger, Product Manager of Marqued.  “It’s about taking what we understand about the emotion and excitement around classic and collectable cars and sharing that with a wider community. By catering to the needs of new enthusiasts, and listening to them about what they need and want from the platform, we aim to democratize car enthusiasm and grow the space as a whole.”

Of course Marqued isn’t operated by the same people as run Porsche Cars, no of course this site is operated by Porsche subsidiary Porsche Digital. ”

Marqued was created by a small, passionate team of young enthusiasts with experience in building and scaling digital products who really want to create their ideal site – one that would welcome a broader audience and perhaps appeal to those new to owning  classics with the level of detailed information, guidance and reassurance they might need.”

Maybe you need to sell a classic, or maybe you’re in the market to buy, either way, you’ve got a new option with Marqued. I know I’ve added it to my bookmarked sites to check while at my desk pretending to work.
