Our Favorite Porsches On Ebay This Week: Volume 20

For all of the eccentric and eclectic Porsche collectors and enthusiasts out there, we’ve decided that it is about time someone aggregated the best of the best that eBay has to offer in the Porsches-for-sale department. Now we’ve tracked down five more exciting Porsches for folks to purchase. The list this week includes a pair of brown Porsche turbos, a rare widebody 964, a gorgeous RS Clone, and even a tractor! Some of these cars could be great collection investments, while others might prove to do more financial harm than good.

1. 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo For Sale

With Magnus Walker now telling the world how great 924s are, it won’t be long before everyone starts listening to him and buying up all of the good ones that are left. This example looks a little bit worse for wear, but it could pretty easily be cleaned up. As long as the crank position sensor is still functional, this car should run well with a relatively minor tuneup. It’s a vision in beautiful brown metallic paint, but it does have a badly cracked dash, the driver’s seat is ripped, and it has the 4-lug wheels and drum rear brakes of the standard 924. That last bit is something of an anomaly, because everything I’ve ever heard about 924 Turbos indicates that all 1980 model year cars received 5-lug wheels and four-wheel disc brakes. Regardless, these cars drive like a dream, and it’s probably the last best kept secret of the Porsche world. They are an absolute joy to take down a back country road. Get one before they start exploding in value.

2. 1994 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 4 “TurboLook” For Sale

Even more rare than the 964 RS America we featured yesterday, this 964 Carrera 4 TurboLook is an absolutely beautiful car. This one has about 70,000 miles on it, so it’s far from a low mileage collector car, but it does look 100% complete and in good nick. The TurboLook is essentially a 964 Turbo without the turbo, if that makes sense. It’s got the Turbo’s upgraded suspension and brakes package, plus the wide bodywork, but makes use of a standard 250 horsepower engine from the Carrera. Only 174 of these were made, and all of them were equipped with 4-wheel drive. The price is a bit on the high side of sanity for my liking, but this is a very rare iteration of the 964, and they’re rapidly gaining favor among collectors.

3. 1983 911 SC Carrera RS Tribute Hot Rod For Sale

In our last eBay list, we found a lovely long-hood hot rod from Dick Barbour’s shop in Georgia. Well, they’ve made this list again, as this wonderful backdate car looks like a whole lot of fun. Sure it isn’t original, but it’s probably quite a bit faster than an original Carrera RS, and it certainly looks the part. In addition to the bodywork required to backdate a car like this, it’s also received a number of suspension upgrades to give it further advantages over ‘the real thing’. The engine appears to be mostly stock, with the addition of a set of ceramic coated equal-length headers and a sport muffler. This car looks like a riot to drive, and offers the Carrera experience for a fraction of the cost. This would be one I’d love to have in my driveway.

4. 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo For Sale

The 3.3 liter 930 has long been on my top-five list of Porsche’s production cars. It’s just a fantastic, if a bit unnerving, car to drive, and those wide fenders just make it look so nice. I have also always had a thing for brown Porsches, and this one is the ultimate brown Porsche. This paint is a re-spray, but it is the original color, and man it looks nice. Add in the fact that this car has received a raft of recent maintenance bits, and an upgraded Andial K27 turbo and Andial intercooler, and it looks like this car is ready to be flogged for many miles to come. A twisty section of mountain road to be our ballroom, this 930 would make an excellent dance partner.

5. 1960 Porsche Diesel Super Tractor For Sale

Many of you might know about the Porsche Diesel Junior single-cylinder tractor, but it’s unlikely that you’ve ever seen a Diesel Super 3-cylinder. These are very rare, especially here in the states, as they were not priced competitively against other tractors of the day. This is an interesting piece of Porsche history, and apparently has been made to run again after sitting for several years. It’s in rough condition, and is missing a lot of trim pieces, but you probably won’t find another one like this anywhere. Just the fact that its an aircooled inline 3-cylinder diesel engine is enough to make me want it. It’s a neat piece that could be a great functional addition to a Porsche-fanatic farmer’s stable.
