Anyone who’s shopped for a Porsche Macan here in the U.S. knows they need to be patient. With demand far outstripping supply – the waiting list in the U.S. is at least 6 months long (up to 14 months in the U.K.). In fact, demand is so strong that many Porsche dealers would gladly sell a new Macan and then instantly offer the customer significantly more to buy it back were this practice not forbidden by Porsche. At least that’s what Tim Bearder, car pricing expert from CAP, had to say in a recent press release. If you’re not familiar with CAP, they are the publisher of the “Black Book” – the go to guide for used car values in the U.K. (similar to Kelly’s Blue Book here in the U.S.).
In their release published late last week, CAP’s Bearder says, “Owners who have been running a Porsche Macan for several months are looking at potential profits running into thousands, if they choose to sell, effectively turning ownership costs into a significant investment return.” He went on to say, “Our research indicates that every used Macan currently advertised in the retail market [in the U.K.] is priced above the original manufacturers cost new, even when you take all the additional fitted options into account. The only thing that will change this situation is if Porsche decides to increase the number of Macans they produce, so that supply matches demand.”
Our Own Research
We haven’t done any type of scientific study, and don’t have the database of CAP, but a quick look on eBay suggests this phenomenon might be limited to the U.K. as there are a number of Macans for sale
What say you Macan owners. Would you sell your recently acquired Macan in order to turn a profit?

Purchased a 2015 Macan S new. Drove it for three years and sold it for 55,000 with 84,000KMS. Did I love the car? Absolutely. Would I purchase another? My GTS should be here in a week.
Any car that can keep a smile on your face for three years is worth every penny. And with less than 12% depreciation on those KM the smile continues.
