Porsche’s new Macan looks more or less like the old Macan. A minor facelifted mid-cycle refresh was launched earlier today in Shanghai, and represents an update of the model that has been on sale since 2014. With some minor aesthetic changes, including headlights and taillights, the Macan is brought into the current Porsche visual lineup to more closely resemble its big brother Cayenne. The new “four points” brake lights have a similar visual look to those in the 718 models, and the now corporate-wide 918 Spyder-inspired headlights make an appearance. The new GT Sports steering wheel makes is present, bringing four-mode switch and Sport Response Button to the last model in Porsche’s lineup that was holding out. From the driver’s seat, you’ll also notice the massive new PCM screen, now an 11-inch touchscreen.

For the first time on the Macan model, LED headlamps are standard features, and Porsche has added the “Three-dimensional LED tail light” across the width of the rear of the car. The new front bumper design is intended to add visual width and gravitas to the front view of the car. Porsche is also bringing new exciting colors to the Macan lineup, including Miami Blue (pictured), Mamba Green Metallic, Dolomite Silver Metallic, and the incredible-in-person Crayon.
Interior
While the outside of the Macan looks largely the same, it’s the inside of Porsche’s little trucklet which has seen the most change. The huge touchscreen is similar to that found in other Porsche models, though the Macan does not have the new capacitive touch buttons on the center console like the Panamera and Cayenne. The new touch screen is equipped with an updated version of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), though Porsche doesn’t state what changes have been made to their infotainment system. The air vents have been redesigned and moved to optimize airflow. The windscreen is now heated for de-misting without a blower. Interior air is now ionized for improved air quality (a very big deal in China, the Macan’s largest market).
Chassis
Further, the chassis has been mildly improved to work more cohesively with a new standard tire compound. New 20″ and 21″ inch wheels are available. Porsche says the improvements to the chassis have instilled the Macan with a more neutral handling dynamic, as well as improvements in stability and driver comfort.
There is no word yet on pricing changes or delivery dates for the new model, but orders should be open at your local Porsche dealer.
