Porsche Macan Turbo vs. 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG

Motor Trend’s “head 2 head” video series is usually one of my favorite on YouTube. However, the video below, where Jonny Lieberman travels to the wilds of the Anza Borrego desert with the goal of determining which German SUV is best: the Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG or the Porsche Macan Turbo, disappoints. Not because it isn’t well produced or we don’t like Jonny. Instead, it’s because the comparison makes no sense to us. Not only is the GLA45 one of the more awkward looking Mercedes produced in recent history – that spoiler on the back is right out of Need For Speed – it’s not an SUV! Instead it’s a glorified hatchback built on a sedan chassis that would be better compared to a BMW X1. Regardless, in typical Lieberman fashion, Jonny flogs them both hard and you can watch for yourself to decide which is the better of the two.
