If you give a gorgeous Miami Blue Macan GTS to Henry Catchpole in Portugal, you’re going to end up with an edifying and insightful video about the car in question, and because the Carfection crew is so good, it’ll have delightful visuals and editing to boot. The real question here is whether or not the new Macan GTS is as good as the old one was. And the answer is that of course it is a bit better, though the new 2.9-liter hot-v turbo engine doesn’t sound quite as good as the old 3-liter heater.
With that minor complaint out of the way, allow Mr. Catchpole to regale you with an options list as long as your leg and a level of driving capabilities feeling completely out of place in a compact SUV. While the Macan doesn’t quite have the big power of a Mercedes AMG or Audi’s RS Q5, it has the Porsche refinement we have come to know and love. It’s a good small SUV with the soul of a sports car.
