Can The Porsche 918 Spyder Drive The Length Of Manhattan In All Electric Mode Only?

We’ve seen and heard the Porsche 918 driving in electric mode before, but it’s always been in a much more controlled environment. Leave it to Mike Spinelli, and the crew at /DRIVE, to create a Top Gearish like scenario to test the battery life of Porsche’s hybrid supercar by attempting to drive it the length of Manhattan Island on battery power alone. Porsche says the batteries on the 918 are good for 12 miles (nearly the length of the island, at least in a straight line). Will the 918 make it?

You would think watching the 918 Spyder drive through Manhattan at speeds barely over 30 mph would bore the pants off you. Thanks to the magic of the /DRIVE cinematography and the personality of Spinelli it’s actually quite enjoying.
