It wasn’t that long ago that we first saw some of Porsche’s most historic liveries make a comeback (at least for promotional purposes) on the all new 2013 Porsche Porsche Boxster. Then, shortly after that, we saw the Porsche 918 getting driven around the Nurburgring in a black and white version of the famous Martini Livery. Well, earlier this week Porsche made it official and announced that an option for the new 918 is the availability of historic Martini Racing Livery.
We’re of the opinion that the Martini Livery option is doubly good. Not only does the 918 look fantastic in this color scheme, but the option will help protect the initial $845,000 buyers have to plunk down for Porsche’s newest supercar.
How Does it Protect the 918?
Simple, according to Porsche the historic Martini Livery isn’t a paint job, but rather a full body wrap. Think of it as paint protection film for your entire Porsche. There’s no word yet on just how much this option will cost, but according to paint protection companies we spoke with full body wraps on a 911 can run between $3000 and $5000 and that’s not including any licensing or marketing fees that will surely need to be paid to Bacardi & Company Limited of Switzerland (the company representing Martini Racing).
