In late October, just before its world premier at the LA Auto show, Porsche introduced us to their most expensive Panamera yet; the Panamera Turbo S Executive Exclusive Edition. Limited to just 100 units, the “Exclusive” Panamera is based on Porsche’s extended Executive edition and includes a host of high-end upgrades on both the exterior and interior. Priced at $264,000 here in the U.S. we heard from many of you thinking Porsche had lost touch with reality and their market. Guess what? They didn’t. In fact, all 100 units of the quarter million plus Panamera were sold in just 48 hours. Porsche’s only regret, that they didn’t make more of them.

“I wish we’d offered more cars for sale; the response has been incredible,” said Porsche’s head of research and development, Wolfgang Hatz, at the Los Angeles motor show
Wondering who bought one? So were we. We reached out to Porsche for comment and while we knew they couldn’t tell us who the individual purchasers were, they did tell us where some of them went. We thought that China would be the largest market for the limo like Panamera. We were wrong.
- 27 of them are coming to the U.S.
- 12 are going to Germany
- 12 are going to China
Where the other 49 are headed, we don’t yet know. However, as soon as we do, we’ll update this post.
What Exclusive Limited Edition Should Porsche Build Next?
Limited editions aren’t a new strategy for Porsche and with the success of the Panamera Executive Exclusive we can only expect to see more.
According to Porsche’s head of research and development, Wolfgang Hatz, “We have tested the appetite for such a car, and we have tested some suppliers to ensure they can deliver. We have learned from the project, and I’m sure we will do more in future.”
So given that’s we know more of these low production run, limited edition models are probably in Porsche’s future, what would you like to see? A hard core, mid-engined track beast? A tricked out Cayenne that’s at home both off-roading in Moab or jumping the curb in the school pick-up line? How about bring back something akin to the Boxster Spyder (one of my personal favorites)?
