In a world of sleepy hybrids, Porsche is determined to make it known that they build one of the most exciting hybrid sedans on the market in any segment. In an effort to bring their luxury hybrid performance monster, the, to the masses, Porsche took over the “Greendoor” coffee house in Carson California, just 2-miles from the Porsche Experience Center. As part of the experience, Porsche offered serious caffeine replacement in the form of rides on track in the new electric-assisted Panamera. The “E-Jolt” was promised to be a “shock they’d never forget”, giving them an incredibly powerful heart-pumping adrenaline rush. What people thought they were signing up for was a coffee so strong you’d need to sign a waiver to drink it. For those who really needed a Grande-sized pick-me-up, those who signed the waiver, they were told to head outside to get their morning cup.
Is a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds enough to wake you up in the morning? Sure a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is an expensive proposition with a starting price of $184,400, but think of how much money you’ll save on $8-dollar lattes when you replace caffeine with a metric ton of adrenaline every morning. In a way, it’s practically a bargain.
In case you wanted a look at the kind of performance Porsche’s E-Charge cup of coffee can really provide, here’s a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid taking a lap of the track at Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit during the North American media launch a few months ago.
This isn’t the first time Porsche has compared the experience of driving one of their cars to the caffeinated wake-up properties of coffee, however. Remember back a few years to the short film they made where Pat Long delivered a fresh cup of joe to Hurley Haywood in a 997 GT3 RS 4.0?
