This isn’t the first Porsche pickup we’ve seen rendered and it’s definitely not the first time we showcase something from the “Automotive Manupilator” Theophilus Chin (remember his Porsche Cayvan?). However, it is the first time we’ve seen something from Theophilus that we didn’t immediately take a liking to.
I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think it’s mostly the fact that it looks like it would come from a Japanese manufacturers. The lines (other the obvious Cayenne front-end) just don’t do it for me. It’s basically a cross between my Cayenne and a Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian (that’s one below in case you’re not familiar with them).
I know some of you laugh at the idea of a Porsche pickup and while here at FLATSIXES.com we don’t think it’s on the radar, it’s not totally outside the realm of possibilities. Look how well the Cayenne and Macan sell. I for one wouldn’t mind a little more space some time. With that said, it’s hard to see a future with a Porsche pickup given the challenges of trying to meet upcoming CAFE regulations with the existing fleet. Let alone with the addition of what would only be a bigger, heavier, more fuel hungry Porsche pickup truck. What do you think? Will Porsche build a pickup?
