Have you ever been tempted by some of the excellent replica Porsches out there? The iconic 1958 Speedster; 550 Spyder; 718 RSK; and even a replica 356 Cabriolet. In a lot of ways, they really make sense – much less expensive, parts are easy to source, upgrades like disc brakes and even air-conditioning! Construction quality can vary, but Beck has proven to be a good reliable car with great looks, good build quality and distinguished by a bespoke 3” tubular steel frame over a very well-built fiberglass body. The running hardware looks great and certainly looks the part. Standard power is a 1900cc VW type 1 engine with dual carbs delivering an experience not far off from the original.
We are lucky enough to have a friend with a Beck Spyder in need of a little engine work. In this first episode, I introduce the car and get started on the journey to get this car purring like a kitten!

That’s it for now, but there is more on the way. If you want to follow along with the rest of the series, we’ll be updating this post as they come out or you can watch them direction on YouTube.
