It seems the automotive world has found a replacement for the Godzilla vs. 911 rivalry. It’s not that Corvette vs. Porsche is anything new, it’s just that it seems to be getting more and more attention lately. Between Corvette’s near dominance in this season’s IMSA Sports Car Championship and Chevy openly trying to lure Porsche buyers to the dark side, I guess it’s only natural for comparisons like this to pop-up. My only problem with them is that despite similar performance characteristics, at some gut level, I just don’t think 911 buyers are shopping Corvette and vice-versa. Maybe it’s something left over from childhood, but it seems to me you grew up dreaming about owning one or the other and which ever one you coveted is the one you’ll buy when your pocket book finally allows for it.
Regardless, Jonny and Jason do a great job of highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly of each car and they are surprisingly well matched. So much so, that they need to bring in pro-racer Randy Pobst to set a tie-breaking lap time at Willow Springs in order to ultimately call a winner. The results are surprisingly close.

Unfair comparison with the grand sport on cup tires while the 911 is on regular michelins. Put them on the same cup tires and re-run your tests and I guarantee the Porsche will do better than in the video. The Porsche on cup tires will either match or surpass the grand sport in performance.
You are right Ray put them both on the same tire.
