911 Turbo Vs. Audi’s New R8 V10 Plus

Porsche’s stablemate Audi has fired a shot right across the bow of Porsche’s 911 Turbo with the brand new R8 V10 Plus. The new R8 is much lighter than the car it replaces, is a more involving drive, and the steering is better than ever. Both the Porsche and the Audi have right around 600 horsepower, all wheel drive, and superfast twin-clutch transmissions. The similarities end there, however. Audi uses a large displacement naturally-aspirated V10 in the middle to accomplish their power figure, while the 911 Turbo is, obviously, turbocharged, and obviously rear-engined. The Porsche makes more of its power down low, while the Audi requires revs to get the most out of it. Because of these characteristics, the Porsche is a more livable daily supercar, as it is quieter, more calm, and more comfortable in traffic. The Porsche has four seats, while the Audi makes do with just the two. Porsche’s Turbo has relatively subdued exterior visuals, while the Audi smacks you over the face with its Iron Man angularity.  Both are amazingly capable, but which is the better supercar?

Luckily Auto Express has taken both cars for a spin to tell us their thoughts. Their verdict? Well, just watch and find out!
