Comparing a 911 Turbo S to a 718 Boxster S might not seem to make sense on the face of it. I mean we’re talking 580 hp as compared to 350 hp and nearly a $120k in price difference. However, it’s those exact details that make this comparison so intriguing. Normally, under ideal conditions, the type of conditions Porsche and most automotive magazines wait for to collect their performance figures, there’s not much of a contest. However, those are ideal conditions (warm weather, warm and sticky tires, and a dry and warm track surface with a professional driver). What about real world conditions? The kind of conditions we’re likely to run into as an owner. That’s what the video below shows.
Porsche’s own performance figures, which usually run conservative, show the Turbo S hitting 60 mph in 2.8 seconds from a standstill and the Boxster S hits 60 mph in 4 seconds (when equipped with PDK and the Sport Chrono package). However, in the video above, it’s cold, it looks like it might be wet and the Turbo S gets a less than ideal launch. The results? Much closer than you would ever expect and strengthens my opinion about the Boxster S that much more. Did you see those top speeds?

Both Great cars, it is a bit deceptive just looking at the Tacho and Speedo in real life on the race track the 718 S will catch the Turbo in the tight section of the track but as soon as you get on the gas on the straight the Turbo just pulls away.
In real life the Turbo would have been half a kilometre ahead buy the time it hit 300ks, have said that the 718 S feels lighter than the outgoing Flat 6 Boxster or Cayman and is better in the handling department.
The only thing is the engine note that personally i think lets down the 718 S.
