Top Gear’s Chris Harris Take a R8 V10, Acura NSX and a 911 Turbo Drag racing….in a downpour.

Top Gear presenter and resident hot-shoe Chris Harris is not one to waste an opportunity, no matter how bad the weather is. Chris Harris tested the Acura NSX, Audi R8 V10 and the Porsche 911 Turbo at Bruntingthopre Proving Ground, Leicestshire and the weather was wet even for the UK. All three automobiles are highly technical and feature all-wheel drive, perfect for the conditions.

Given the horribly rainy weather, Harris decided it was the perfect day for a drag race in an effort to prove each car’s abilities. Of course, it was also perfect weather to pitch the cars sideways and nobody does that better than Harris! The normally aspirated R8 V10 is raw and brutal while the twin-turbo V6 NSX Hybrid is more refined, very different in design but certainly mid-engined masterpieces. Harris tells us what we already know, the 911 Turbo, with the engine placed directly over the rear wheels, is the one to have from this trio. The 911 Turbo ticks all the boxes.

  • How many times recently have I seen articles referencing a Porsche having the engine "over the rear wheels"? Not the case, I though we all knew the engine is behind the rear wheels, for even better effect on traction and acceleration because of the leverage effect.
