Many of you may remember Paul Bailey’s name from that terrible 918 Spyder accident that took place last month in Malta. However, Paul is better known as the owner of three of the world’s most outrageous and exclusive supercars. That’s right, besides his 918 (a bit banged up at the moment) he also owns a McLaren P1 and a Ferrari LaFerrari. Collectively known as the “Holy Trinity” of supercars.
Many have compared these cars to each other in one way, shape, or form. TopGear put three of them together and tested them on the road. MotorTrend managed to get two of them on the track at the same time and compared those. Chris Harris has been teasing a test for some time. And now it looks like the new Amazon Prime series featuring Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will open their season with a similar test. However, despite all the teasing and foreshadowing it’s the folks at SuperCar Driver TV who managed to get it done first (thanks in no small part to the generosity of owner Paul Bailey).
This first test was completed at Silverstone and was obviously filmed prior to Paul’s accident in Malta. It should be pointed out that this is a completely independent test with no backing/help from the manufacturers. All cars were serviced a week prior to filming, had full tanks of gas, were out fitted with VRaceLogic timing gear and had British Touring Car Championship driver Mat Jackson behind the wheel.
Unfortunately, the filming, at least of the on-track portion, doesn’t have the same cinematic production values we’ve become accustomed to thanks to channels like /DRIVE and Chris Harris On Cars. However, what it does have is incredible drone footage and telematics overlayed on the screen as each supercar makes its way around the track. I loved watching the cornering speeds and top-end speeds on some of the straights. Unfortunately, Silverstone isn’t necessarily a fast track, but it does give a good test of how these three supercars handle and compare to each other.

Hi All, Well done for the Track Shootout, but just to say a big big hello to Paul Baily. A TRUE GENTLEMAN,who tried to help the unfortunate and at the same time was involved in the accident in Malta.
Remember Paul, on Monday we were supposed to visit the Malta Classic Car Museum, but things just did not turn right. Maybe one day we would meet and visit together.
I sincerely hope you are well and wish that we would meet someday.
