What Happens When The Price Isn’t Right?

We’ve been watching The Price is Right for at least 25 + years and in all that time neither one of us can remember a Porsche as a prize – although it is possible we missed an episode or two. Earlier this week a contestant had the opportunity to win a 2010 Porsche Boxster (along with some cash and a trip) in the Showcase Showdown. His bid of $58,500 (for the Porsche, $1000 in cash and a trip to Vegas) seemed spot on, maybe even a bit low. That’s right, he over-bid by ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FOUR BUCKS!!! What’s worse is the kid next to him won his prize and didn’t even seem to know it until Drew let him in on it. Let us on the show, we’ll definitely win!!!

Alleged Cheater on The Price is Right Wins A Porsche 928

This a vintage video clip from TPIR game show that aired February 28, 1992. It shows how a woman allegedly cheated to win a Porsche in the “3 Strikes” game. She has two chips left in the bag, a “white” chip with the last number and a “red” chip which is the remaining 3rd strike. If she pulls the strike she loses, if she pulls the number out she is an automatic winner. It appears that she brings one chip up near the top but not out, she quickly glance down at it twice, seeing that it is the “red” strike chip so she then reaches back down and exchanges the chip and subsequently pulls it out to win the car. This move apparently caused the show’s producers and creators to alter the game’s pieces and how it is played to prevent this from happening again.
