A Porsche owner near Louisville Kentucky took every possible precaution to make sure their Porsche would be high and dry even if their house wasn’t. With rising flood waters rapidly approaching their home and no where to go… genius struck. What better idea than to tether a float to your home, drive your Porsche on and inflate it to ride out the high water. From the looks of the picture below, the water is at least four or five feet up the garage door. Kudos to the owner of this Porsche! UPDATE BELOW and at Interview with Floating Porsche Owner.

UPDATE May-4-2011 9:06 PM: According to the local PCA chatboard, where this Porsche is located, the owners efforts, while heroic, didn’t save this Porsche. We’re waiting to hear back from the owner or someone close to them to verify, but that’s what’s being reported on the PCA chat service. We really hope it’s not true…

Apparently this home is located on a peninsula of sorts and the access road flooded before the car could be removed. Besides, that wouldn't make for a very exciting story now would it....

It's meant to be humorous and explain/showcase that you can't always trust what you see for sale on the internet. Thus, the posts about "5 Reasons to Walk Away", "How to Avoid the Most Common Car Scams" and why you need a "Porsche Pre-Purchase Inspection".

In all seriousness, I can now justify purchasing an inflatable raft to be ready for adverse weather!
The waters rose very quickly in parts of the city where the rain came down very hard in a short amount of time. We had rain every day for more than 8 days. I assume, he like most every one else having trouble with the rising waters here, had come home for the night when we got one of the really bad storms. When he went to move it, it was too late. The roads to leave the house were already flooded :-/ We're still flooded in parts of the city and I havent seen any other news on his car, BUT the local news thought it was a great idea. I also think it was very smart.
