Porsche Sets A New Nürburgring Lap Record, This Time Towing A Trailer

No, this isn’t some stunt where a fake lightweight trailer is hooked up to the back of a high-powered 911 variant in order to set a quick lap and garner a few extra lines of copy in buff books. Instead, it’s a stunt where a Panamera Turbo, hauling a proper custom-German-built Moetefindt Fahrzeugbau trailer with another Porsche (a Junior tractor) inside it, manages to set a seriously fast 12-minute 6-second lap of the Nürburgring, in the wet. That’s some serious hot-shoeing by hired driver Patrick Simon. Stunt or otherwise, it’s fun to watch.

This PR stunt wasn’t explicitly endorsed by Porsche, in fact we’re not sure they even knew about it [they will now], but it’s a pretty neat thing to be able to say your Panamera owns a lap record at the Nurburgring, right?

  • UHHHH OK
When you consider the Time coordinating the effort ...Costs = likely closing track ..building up laps to get to speed..risking Porsche tractor ( not off shelf item )...not to mention feasibility of crashed Panamera =) and all the other incidentals... Pretty focused effort

Porsche owes him Kudos ...as can imagine use of Cayenne ...but to demonstrate towing abilities of Panamera..should be part of an AD campaign

  • How practical from Porsche who think of everything from functional and to get from one place to the other fast and safe towing your trailer, brilliant.
