How This Porsche Thief Manages To Get Away After This Crash Is Unbelievable

Over the years we’ve seen Porsche thieves, would be thieves and other criminals do some pretty incredibly stupid things in their nefarious pursuits. However, the thief in the CCTV footage you’re about to see might just be the all time winner. According to the story we read, a man stole a Porsche from a home in Vaucluse (Syndey, Australia’s east end) early Wednesday morning. At some point after the theft the driver/thief found himself pursued by a Motorcycle officer. As pursuits go, given it involved a Porsche and a motorcycle police unit, fairly high and unsafe speeds were reached (at least unsafe for an unskilled Porsche thief). As the stolen car made its way across Sydney onto Norton Street (in Leichardt, Sydney’s inner west side) the driver lost control of the Porsche and slid wildly and violently into a tree. Amazingly, not only did the would be thief live, he stumbled away from the wreckage and somehow managed to escape the pursuit of the motorcycle officer and other while on foot and possibly injured. The video below is a bit grainy, but you can see how incredibly lucky this guy was to live. Getting away, that’s just nuts. If he hadn’t wrecked the Porsche I’d say let him go free…

Update: Apparently, he didn’t remain free for long. The Sydney Morning Herald reported the following, “Police said a 30-year-old man was arrested at Campsie police station later on Wednesday and charged over the police pursuit, with taking and driving a conveyance, and driving while disqualified. He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Thursday.”

    • Hey, Ron,

It's working for me. What browser are you using? Did you try the link that takes you directly to the Sydney Herald? They are the ones hosting the video (it's just embedded here).

  • Since Australians have a great rep for their swimming abilities, perhaps the suspect could be dropped into the ocean about 25 kms offshore. If he makes it back to land, all charges would be dismissed.
