How to Drive the Perfect Lap of Barber Motorsports Park in a GT3 RS

Cass Whitehead, the head instructor at Porsche’s Sport Driving School, estimates that he has done 50,000 laps of Barber Motorsports Park. Just for perspective, if we take the total number of laps Derek Bell has completed at 26 appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, you get a figure of 7,642 laps. To call Mr. Whitehead experienced with Barber is an understatement. This makes him the perfect person to demonstrate a “perfect” lap of the track in a GT3 RS.

This video was filmed at the Porsche Sport Driving School using the RS variant of the outgoing GT3. At this time the recently launched GT3 does not yet have an RS variant. That said, Mr. Whitehead describes the GT3 RS as one of the greatest road cars ever made. After seeing his perfect lap in the “old” RS, we’re extremely excited for the new one. Need we remind you that the new non-RS GT3 is still hilariously fast?

  • Dang! That would have been a whole 'nother thing if they showed it from in-car, while he's talking about what to do…

Ah well, here I am complaining about free content!

  • What a great car the GT3RS is. I have driven the RS on the road and highways and on the track at the Porsche Sports Driving School in Queensland Australia.
The first thing i noticed is how stable and planted the RS feels on the road at even highway speeds, it just feels, "a better word for it", you just feel confident behind the wheel, just a great feeling.
On the track the amount of traction is incredible for street tyres i could not give the RS enough praise for a street car that can be raced just brilliant.
Watching the video as Cass Whitehead drove the RS you will notice Cass just had the RS in Auto and not using the paddles that's how good the PDK and Electronics Porsches has developed for the RS, again brilliant.
I did not want to come home after the track day and driving the RS and all the other Porsche, if you have some time and are going to Queensland book it you will love it with Chief instructor Tomas Mezera and his instructors, if you like driving the best sports car manufacturer in the world brilliant..

    • Hey, Tas,

Thanks for the feedback. We're looking forward to throwing one around here at PSDS in the U.S. sometime soon!

      • Hey Pepper Girl,
You will love it i am still smiling thinking about the drive 3 weeks later.
        Cheers.
