Pricing, Pictures and Video of the new 2013 911 GT3 Cup

The first Porsche race car based on the seventh generation Porsche 911 (type 991) was introduced this weekend at the “Night of Champions” dinner in Weissach. Powered by a 3.8 liter six cylinder flat engine the new 911 GT3 Cup makes 460 hp at 7550 RPMs.

In conjunction with the 10 extra horses over the previous model, the new GT3 Cup receives a six-speed dog-type gear box operated via paddle shifters (a first for a Porsche brand trophy car). Michelin race slicks are two centimeters wider up front and ten milimeters wider in the back. The bigger and better Michelins sit on newly designed center mount single piece racing wheels. When you go faster you need more braking power. So, Porsche developed a new braking system that incorporates a 380 millimetre slotted and inner vented steel brake rotor along with six piston, fixed aluminum brake calipers up front and a four piston version in back. From a safety standpoint, the driver is encased in an all new cage and seat. In the event of an accident or other emergency the driver can be extracted via a rescue hatch in the roof.

Pricing and Availability of the 2013 Porsche GT3 Cup

The new GT3 Cup will be run exclusively in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup series while the rest of the cups and challenge cups around the world, including the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama and the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin, will compete in the current 911 GT3 Cup racer for 2013, switching to the new car in 2014. The starting price for the vehicle, which is available exclusively in white, is 181,200 Euro plus the country-specific taxes.
