Meet Porsche’s 2015 Factory Drivers

Last week Porsche held their annual Night of Champions Dinner. As usual, besides reminiscing on the previous season in Motorsport, Porsche uses the evening as a platform to announce their plans for 2015. Amongst all the other announcements Porsche confirmed their factory driver line-up for 2015.

Of the 14 drivers from 2014, 13 were named. Conspicuously absent from any mention was Wolf Henzler. However, we know that Falken already announced he was back with them for 2015, we just weren’t sure if it was as a Porsche factory driver. After a few quick emails with Porsche they confirmed that Wolf does, indeed, remain part of the factory team. The one new addition to the factory line-up is Earl Bamber (Supercup Champion and 2014 winner of the Porsche Motorsport International Cup Scholarship.

In addition to the 15 named above, Formula 1 star, Nico Hülkenberg will pilot a third Porsche 919 Hybrid at Le Mans in 2015. The other two drivers have yet to be named, but Porsche says they will first look to their own ranks of current GT drivers first. It should be noted that this isn’t the “final” list as there could still be additions.

  • Sorry to see that Patrick Long will be on the other side of the pond, but trust that that is a good plan for him. I suspect we will see him over here for Daytona and Petit LeMans.

    • Vince, we sure hope so. It seems strange that Porsche would move their only American driver (and arguably one of their most popular) to strictly overseas. They say he will be in TUDOR for "select long distance races". We should know more soon!

  • Porsche has a great group of drivers. In my opinion Wolf Henzler is one of the very best.Any time he gets in a Porsche he can win.
