CJ Wilson Racing Adds GS Class 911 To Their Roster In Time For Laguna Seca

CJ Wilson Racing has recently announced a partnership with Fantasy Garage that will see the Austin-based team make a move on the GS class of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge competing in a 997-generation 911 Carrera 2 Powerkit Coupes. Currently only Rum Bum Racing and Rebel Rock Racing campaign 911s in this class, which is practically dominated by Mustangs, and Camaros. Rum Bum did manage to push their 911 to a victory at Daytona and a podium at Sebring, so there is definitely potential still in this platform for the class.

CJ Wilson Racing’s initial two-race program begins with round three, today May 2nd, at Mazda Raceway followed by a race at Lime Rock Park (July 25th). Regular CJ Wilson Racing drivers Marc Miller and Tyler McQuarrie will drive the car in both events.

CJ Wilson, Team Owner, had this to day -“We’re really excited about the new challenges that we face as we step into the GS class and the incredible level of competition that it offers. The pairing of the Porsche 911 with our new partner,  Fantasy Garage, is an ideal one. CJ Wilson Racing aims to add a customer platform that will hone a driver’s racecraft and speed in a competitive environment while also placing them on a trajectory towards some of the big GT events in the future. That is why we are evaluating several categories that could both serve a customer’s needs, as well as further our goal to compete in the highest levels of sportscar racing.”

Marc Miller, Driver #33 Car said, “After many successful seasons racing in ST, this transition to the GS class in the Fantasy Garage Porsche 911 is something I have looked forward to for a long time. I have missed racing in higher-horsepower classes, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge of developing this portion of our program into a race-winning effort.”

The third round of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge takes place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, May 2nd at 4pm EST. You can watch the race live on www.imsa.com. For live updates follow CJ Wilson Racing on Twitter @cjwilsonracing.
