Video: Michelin And Porsche Attack Le Mans in “We Are Racers”

As Porsche fanatics, we are all racers. We may not be on track every weekend, or jet setting to new tracks, but we are the driving force behind Porsche’s motorsport efforts. We are a part of the “team”, even if we aren’t jumping over the wall, swapping tires, or refilling fuel. We may not make the decisions, the split second corrections, or aerodynamic changes, but we’re there every race doing our part to ensure Porsche gets to the top step.

Without us, the racing is a fruitless exercise. Without us, Porsche never goes racing in the first place. We are the fans. We are racers.

Michelin’s newest video below showcases the Porsche LMP1 and GTE Pro category teams in their efforts to take on the Mount Everest that is the Le Mans 24 Hours. The video showcases several members of the Porsche team, both on the GT and the LMP sides of the garage, including Brendon Hartley, Mark Webber, and Michelin’s own ‘Rain Master’. Mission 2014 isn’t just about a return to form for Porsche in top flight motorsport, it’s about teamwork, passion, and proving we can.

As the first in a mini-series of videos, this one focuses on Porsche’s efforts at Silverstone to start out the WEC season. If you’ll recall, Michelin helped Porsche to take a 1-2 in the wet in GTE Pro, and the 919 Hybrid ended up on the LMP1 podium on its very first outing.

The video has spectacular cinematography, with excellent shots from the pouring wet Silverstone track, and a number of insider insights that you just can’t get anywhere else. The video evokes an old-world feel, with a calm and cool 1970’s voiceover track. Slow motion shots mixed with some excellent on board footage make this video a must watch 6-minutes.

We’re heading to France next week, and will be bringing you extended Le Mans 24 coverage, courtesy of Michelin Tires.
