This Is What Porsche’s 919 Hybrid LMP1 Sounds Like On The Track

The good guys over at the /Drive network have a great new Porsche video to check out. There’s no silly voiceover, no commentary, no extraneous anything. It is simply excellent quality track-side video of Porsche’s newest LMP1 contender testing at Paul Ricard. This is a simplistic view of Porsche’s motorsport machine doing what it does best. This is exciting, because this is really our first opportunity to hear the new 919 Hybrid LMP1’s exhaust at full chat.

There was a test, just over a week ago, at the famous testing circuit for all of the cars entered in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Though testing is hardly ever a true show of performance under racing conditions, Porsche swept the weekend, taking the fastest lap time overall, which included entries from both Audi and Toyota. If nothing else, this is a promising start to what should be an excellent year of competition.

As a bonus, at around 1:25 in, you can see the difference in cornering speed between Porsche’s 911 RSR and the 919 Hybrid. It’s quite substantive.
