André Lotterer is going from strength to strength. With Audi now out of endurance racing, the former Audi driver has moved to Porsche. In his first two races with the team, at Silverstone and Spa, he has helped to achieve third and fourth place finishes for Porsche alongside Nick Tandy and Neel Jani. Le Mans is now just days away, and Lotterer has taken the time to talk about the changeover to Porsche with Mobil 1 On the Grid, and his relationship with his new teammates.
The video takes some time discussing Lotterer’s past racing experience, but while they covered most of the breadth of his varied career, they didn’t go in to much depth. I have always particularly liked André Lotterer, because he seems more like a racing driver from the 1960s or 1970s than most competing today. The man will apparently race absolutely anything, and he is remarkably fast in any car he gets in, whether it’s an open-wheel Formula car, LMP1 prototype, or a Lexus SC430 silhouette racer. - Currently racing his 15th Season in Super Formula. One championship win, and ten appearances in the top 3 for the season in points. Lotterer is currently in third place in the in-progress 2017 season.
- Nine seasons in the JGTC. Two championship wins, and four appearances in the top 3 for the season in points.
- Six seasons in the World Endurance Championship. One championship win, and three second place finishes for the season in points. Currently in third in the 2017 WEC.
- Eight appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Three overall wins and two podium finishes, all with Audi.
