About Derek Bell

With a career spanning over forty years, Bell remains one of the most liked drivers of his generation. Since his retirement from professional racing, he has engaged with numerous motor sport and charity projects utilizing his vast knowledge and enthusiasm.

But endurance racing was the arena in which Bell truly shone. Taking back-to-back World Sports Car Championships in 1985 and 86, he also won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1986, 87 and 89. He formed one of the most famous pairings in motor sport history with Jacky Ickx, claiming victory in the Le Mans 24 hours in 1975, 1981 and 82. Bell claimed a further two victories in the 1986 and 87 editions of the French classic.

The Englishman is no stranger to the small screen or the silver screen, having worked as a Formula 1 analyst on US television and featuring in the 1971 cult classic Le Mans alongside Steve McQueen.

Bell still competes in historic racing and represents global automotive brands such as Porsche and Bentley. He is a supporter of the charity Mission Motorsport that helps injured servicemen and women acquire skills, self-confidence and potential careers through motor sport.

With limitless knowledge of motor sport, Bell is ready to answer questions as the latest ‘Ask A Pro’.
