Porsche Results and Pictures in the ALMS at Lime Rock

Porsche and the Flying Lizard’s bad luck was left in the dust this weekend as Joerg Bergmeister and Patrick Long won the GT Class at Lime Rock in the Flying Lizard Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. Not only was this the first win for Joerg and Patrick this season, it was Porsche’s first win since Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta last year. With this race, Bergmeister scored his 35th ALMS win in his 100th start. Joerg has also won six of his last seven races at Lime Rock

“This victory was a long time coming – since Petit Le Mans last year. We have had some mistakes this year, like our pit problems at Laguna, but mostly learning the car and bad luck, like being rear-ended before the green flag at Sebring, have kept us off the podium. Today we were flawless, from driving well to pit strategy, and the Porsche was great. We are still perfecting the set-up for this new RSR, but we felt we made good strides today,” said Bergmeister.

Round five of the American Le Mans Series takes place on 21 July in Mosport/Canada.

  • Limerock was great, Mosport will be interesting, and I’m really looking forward to Midohio since I’ll be there; BUT……..I really have nothing good to say about Porsche North America since they decided/refused to help sponsor a Porscheplatz there. I asked PCA and got a polite answer that they had nothing to do with it (baloney since I work the tent at Sebring) and no one in Atlanta would talk about it. Sad, sad development for us Porsche owners!
