Porsche’s Factory Drivers For 2014

Porsche’s “Night of Champions” was held this weekend at the Casino in Porsche’s R&D Complex in Weissach. Among other things Porsche confirmed their 2014 Factory driver lineup. For the upcoming season, Porsche has signed on 20 drivers including four Porsche juniors and a scholarship candidate chosen from the international one-make race series. This brings the factory driver squad to its highest level ever.

All existing 2013 Porsche factory drivers have received a contract for the 2014 season. In addition to the existing team, Porsche announced that New Zealander Brendon Hartley (24) will join the LMP1 Porsche 919 Hybrid team effort and that Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki (33), who prefers to be called Fred Mako. will join the ranks of Porsche Motorsport’s GT squad this coming season and pilot a 911 RSR.

“We’ve never had such a large driver line-up in the history of the company,” says Wolfgang Hatz, Board Member for Research and Development at Porsche AG.
