In another excellently produced Drive network video, John Hindhaugh of Radio Le Mans provides unparalleled commentary on the Circuit of the Americas round of the IMSA GT3 Cup.
In a rainy round on Friday afternoon, there was an intense battle shaking out between NGT driver Angel Benitez and Madison Snow’s Wright Motorsports steed. Benitez took advantage of the wet track to take the round 13 victory in style.
Saturday’s event saw the youthful Snow take the win and extend his points lead heading for overall championship. Of course, Sloan Urry taking second while Benitez suffered a failure led to even more of a points haul for Madison.
Having spoken to Mike Levitas of TPC Racing at COTA, featured in the video at about 3:00, it seems that they’ll be aiming for Platinum class competition next year, applying for new 991 ownership as their current Gold class car is retired for being too old. It will certainly be interesting to see a team that has excelled in Gold attack Platinum.
