American GT2 RS Owners Can Finally Get The Manthey Racing Kit Through Porsche Dealerships

It might seem like Nürburgring Nordschleife lap records get broken every few weeks these days, but Porsche and Manthey Racing conspired to take the street legal record back in 2018, and have held it ever since. Porsche’s 991 GT2 RS MR managed a 6:40.33, which is faster than anything else with a license plate. The only cars to set a faster official time are Volkswagen’s all-electric ID.R and Porsche’s all-conquering lap-record-setting 919 Hybrid Evo. That’s pretty impressive for a car that evolved from a pretty basic 911 chassis. Admittedly it had race-inspired aero components, the stickiest of tires, and a 700 horsepower turbocharged flat six. Yeah, it’s the most impressive 911 spec sheet to ever have been printed in Weissach, and now you can upgrade your mega-911 to Manthey Racing’s MR specs.

The Nürburgring-beating kit includes an aerodynamic package with unique splitter, canards, rockers, diffuser, engine lid, and taller wing supports for aerodynamic advantage. The kit also includes a myriad of mechanical components, including fully adjustable coilovers and race-oriented springs, brake pads for trackday use, stainless braided brake lines, a larger tank for the water injection setup to retain the GT2 RS’ big power for longer, and a lighter set of magnesium racing wheels with aero covers. It’s a pretty comprehensive kit that makes the most hardcore 911 of all time even more hardcore. Around the Nordschleife track, the MR kit is worth almost seven seconds of lap time in the hands of Porsche test driver Lars Kern. And that’s with zero additional power upgrades. Just imagine how much faster you would be at your next track day. You might even win!

Coming soon to a dealership near you, the GT2 RS MR kit will be made available to US customers through Porsche’s Tequipment offerings. This is vitally important, as it means your local dealer will be able to install the performance kit to factory standards with Porsche certified mechanics. The kit runs €95,094 in Europe, but you can opt out of the mag wheels for just €77,244. While there’s no official word on what the kit will cost in this market, can you really put a price on having the most extreme 911 to ever exist? Is that worth paying for? You don’t want people to think you drive a normal GT2 RS, do you?
