In 2025, the Norman Foster Foundation will present the eighth edition of its design and art initiative, “The Art of Dreams,” during the Biennale Architettura in Venice, scheduled from May 10 to November 23. The project, titled “Gateway to Venice’s Waterways,” is a collaborative effort with Porsche and aims to showcase an architectural installation.

Venice, recognized for its historical significance and aesthetic appeal, is increasingly viewed as a model for urban innovation and sustainability. The installation seeks to inspire conversations on sustainable urban development in the context of the city’s unique environment.

The theme for this year’s Architecture Biennale is “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” The installation will illustrate the intersection of dreams and reality, drawing inspiration from both nature and technology. It aims to demonstrate how design can address the challenges of modern urban infrastructure while adhering to sustainable principles. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with “Gateway to Venice’s Waterways” throughout the duration of the Biennale.

Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche, commented on the relationship between design and architecture, noting that both fields encompass a blend of aesthetics, technology, functionality, and feasibility. He emphasized the value of collaboration across disciplines, stating that such exchanges can enhance creativity and lead to innovative ideas.

Norman Foster highlighted the significance of the partnership between the Norman Foster Foundation and Porsche, emphasizing a comprehensive approach that integrates various expertise to redefine future mobility. He remarked that by combining technological advancements with insights from nature and historical lessons, cities can evolve into more sustainable and interconnected environments. The installation serves as a representation of this vision, illustrating how innovation and tradition can coexist to inspire future urban solutions.
